Jemima Maxwell was born in Downpatrick, Co. Down, her mother`s family came from Bantry and her father from Lismore Co. Waterford. Enriched by her time in Connemara, Jemima’s application of paint, and her use of colour, texture & light are impressive, as she uses colour to create space and generate powerful evocative images, semi-abstract in form. Undoubtedly influenced, to a considerable extent, by her mother, Pamela Maxwell, herself a painter, who studied under William Scott, Jemima`s formal artistic training under Robin Child led her to her first London exhibition in the year 2000, which certainly heralded the emergence of an accomplished artist.
