James Cahill studied at the Crawford College of Art, Cork and later at the Putney School of Art, London, where he lived and worked as an artist, before returning to Cork to take up a three year post as resident artist in the Cork Public Museum, and later moving to Dublin, while continuing to exhibit throughout Ireland.
