Born in Dublin 1943, he was raised in Northern Ireland. He studied art in Belfast and London, graduating in 1964. He moved to Galway with his young family in 1975 where he took up the post as Head of Art & Design in the GMIT. Exhibiting widely at home and abroad in the 1960’s, and as far afield as New Zealand, he was both teacher and painter, with vibrant and luscious use of paint, as he captured the colour and atmosphere of the West of Ireland.
