Eileen Meagher b.1946

Born in 1946, Eileen Meagher studied in the sixties at the National College of Art and Design. Her crisp and vivid depiction of the Connemara landscape sets her apart and her work has been much sort after and now hangs in government departments and collections at home and abroad. It has been said of Eileen Meagher, that the smell of the turf and the roar of the water emanate from her work. Seldom has a painter succeeded so skilfully in translating into paint the powerful beauty of the Connemara landscape with its dozens of lakes set against the backdrop of the Twelve Bens.
