Born in Cumbria, in 1934. Michael Bennett attended Art College in the late 1960's, initially working as a lecturer in Fine Art. He took a 2 year sabbatical in 1971 and went to live on the west coast of Cumbria. The 2 years were extended and he never returned to teaching but exhibited widely, gaining a high reputation and a strong and loyal following.
