Born in 1958, David Pelzer studied in various American ateliers where he learned a traditional method of painting. He began working at the age of 12 in the family business, learning blacksmithing from his father and grandfather. After building a forge, he quickly built a reputation as an artist-craftsman creating sculptural forms.
