WHERE THE BURREN MEETS THE SEA
Manus Walsh, b.1940Born in 1940, Manus Walsh began his career in the field of stained glass, working for the Abbey Stained Glass Studios in Dublin, in the sixties. It was during his time there that he met artist, George Campbell, who became his mentor and friend, and also encouraged him to take up painting full time. Among Manusís many stained glass designs are five windows for Galway Cathedral, and more recently in St Johnís Church, Ballyvaughan. The landscape of the Burren has been a constant inspiration to him for the past thirty years and more, and its barren limestone landscape continues to be a major influence on his work. Manus has travelled widely, spending considerable periods of time, in both Spain and Chile, and the Spanish landscape, together with the city of Valparaiso continue to be a significant influence. Walsh has exhibited widely at home and abroad, including four exhibitions in South America and numerous one man shows and he is widely regarded as an important contemporary artist.

Enter your Maximum Bid, i.e. the highest amount you’re willing to bid for a particular lot in the auction. The system will automatically raise your bid, only as much as is needed, for you to remain the highest bidder and only up to your chosen Maximum Bid, which does not include the buyer’s commission (VAT Inclusive) payable on all lots.
Please note that all Maximum Bids are confidential and are not disclosed. The system will endeavour to purchase your lot at the lowest hammer price, as is permitted by other bids or reserves, if any, and subject to the Terms and Conditions of Sale, and the auctioneer disclaims responsibility for any failure, for whatever reason, in this regard.
The system will advance your bid automatically, on your behalf, only when required, up to the maximum you have chosen. This means that you may win an item for less than your maximum bid, but it also means that you can be outbid if someone else enters a higher Maximum Bid. If you are outbid for a lot, an email will be sent to you to notify you and to invite you to increase your Maximum Bid. Please note, if a bid is received in the final minute of a timed auction, the clock resets back to sixty seconds, in order to give other bidders an opportunity to respond.
